Yes, I'm joining another challenge. I know it's kind of like watching a train wreck. I haven't been very successful in the past, but I just can't seem to help myself. They all seem like so much fun. So, I'm joining the Once Upon a Time II challenge hosted by Carl at Stainless Steel Droppings. It runs from March 21 to June 20 and the rules are:
- Quest One: Read five books from any category or combination of category (myth, folklore, fairy tale and fantasy).
- Quest Two: Read one book from each of the four categories.
- Quest Three: Choose EITHER Quest one OR two AND also read Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.
- The Secret Garden
- Dream Angus
- Coraline
- Penelopiad
- Transformations
- Son of a Witch
- Mirror, Mirror

I haven't read The Secret Garden in so long - I really should read it to my six year old! Thanks for the reminder and enjoy Once Upon a Time!
stephanie, I'm kind of jealous. I wish I had read this book to my boys when they were young. They're 18 and 20 now. But, like I said, I'll just have to read it to my grandchildren one day.
I loved Dreams Angus and Coraline and The Penelopiad. I hope you enjoy them as well :) Very nice list of books.
I have Coraline on my list as well. So many people have raved about this one - I have a feeling it'll be fun.
I'm so glad you are joining us. Thanks! I'm really excited about your list of books, there are some wonderful ones in their to be sure. I hope you enjoy the challenge and that you pop in regularly to check out the contests and giveaways, etc.
nymeth, I'm about halfway through Dream Angus and am really enjoying it. I wasn't familiar with the original story so I didn't really know what to expect.
iliana, I can't wait to read Coraline. Like you, I've read soooo much about this one. It sounds like it's really going to be a good read.
carl, I was too late last year, so I'm glad you decided to do it again. It was a really popular challenge. I'm excited about the books I've chosen and can't wait to get started!
Lisa, I've read Wicked too :) Unfortunately, I'm beginning to think that I don't really get Gregory Maguire's writing :(
bunny b, Maguire is definitely different. For me, I just have to be in the right mood for it. I'm not sure I actually 'get' it either.
I just listened to the audio of Coraline (read by Gaiman) and it was wonderful!
danielle, this will actually be my first Gaiman. I really haven't read that much in this genre before. But, I'm really liking what I've read so far. Even before this challenge, I'd seen reviews of Coraline all over the place and thought it sounded great! I can't wait to get it -- I ordered this one from Amazon.
The Secret Garden was my childhood icon. It represented so much more to me than a story. I loved The Penelopiad, but am not a fan of Coraline.
jenclair, I can understand your feelings about The Secret Garden. I'm surprised to hear your thoughts on Coraline. All the reviews I've heard have been glowing. Maybe it's one of those that you either love or hate. I'm even more interested in reading it now to see which camp I'll fall into.
Great choices! You have some really wonderful reads ahead of you.
That's a very cool list. I am looking forward to reading Dream Angus, Coraline, The Penelopiad, Transformations and Mirror Mirror in the future. Son of a Witch was a lot of fun and I can't wait for the third book in the series to finally come out.
rhinoa, I'm reading Coraline now and love it! I really liked Wicked, and I'm looking forward to reading Son of a Witch. I didn't know there was a third book coming out. Thanks for the info. I'll be watching out for it.
